the art of letting go...

It was high time I posted a "how I'm coping with Daybreak" post. :P
The Art Of Letting Go - Mikaila
Laura Roslin and Bill Adama's relationship has a bittersweet ending. I won't say I didn't cry when the Raptor scene occured-it takes a lot to get my tear ducts working, and Laura's death set it off like mad. She was my favorite character, after all, and I knew that Bill would be heartbroken as well. (Let's just overlook the fact that when he kissed her hand after putting the ring on, I yelled, "She MOVED!")
Thing is, I'm very surprised that I'm coping with this better than many people. Maybe it's because nearly all of my ships have the same dynamics...
Caspian X/Susan Pevensie: Caspian and Susan are parted by a whole frakking universe and had limited time together. Their goodbye involved a simple, sweet kiss. When she left, Susan couldn't go back.
Aragorn/Arwen (and Beren/Luthien): Arwen and Luthien, being immortal, outlived their mortal lovers.
Harry/Hermione: The ship's not Canon. Harry and Hermione are parted because they're married to other people.
Jack Dawson/Rose DeWitt Bukater: The centric ship in Titanic (ai, the verbal irony), Jack/Rose ended with Jack dying. "My Heart Will Go On" now applies to A/R, I suppose. ;]
and my oddball couple of Legolas/Mrs. F (gag me, this ship makes me LMAO now): Legolas is an elf. Last time I checked, Mrs. F is not (but she is the Laura Reincarnate, so it's all good. x]). Naturally, she'd die before him.
Just because I had previous experience in past fandoms doesn't mean that I've moved on. I've moved on halfway, but I don't think I'll ever get over it. They're the first Canon couple that I actively shipped while the Canon was still incomplete-that's got to count for something. And let's not forget that they're just absolutely kickass and hardcore and they've been through so much... I just want them to have a happy end.
I'm writing some fanfic and drawing some fanart, not to mention iconing like mad. At least A/R at OFUBSG remains happy. :]
