So today's the end-of-the-school year ceremony thing (aka promotion) and I didn't get my tearducts functioning until lunch, an hour later. :[

I have to say... saying goodbye to Mrs. F was like watching Laura Roslin in the Raptor scene in Daybreak all over again. The tears turned on and a single tear trickled down my cheek melodramatically as I looked out the window of the cafe I was in, numb and sad and crushed at the same time. (and yes, I know I sound like a Mary Sue but that's how it went)

Well, the ceremony was... okay. Our principal (who looks a bit like Carlisle Cullen if you stare at him for a long time) got up and gave a long-winded speech with references to Dr. Seuss. A bunch of students spoke or sang or got up and recieved awards. I got a President's Education Award, complete with a printed version of Barack Obama's signature. :P

Mrs. F and I smiled at each other. A lot. Heh. She's still trying to get herself a Twitter username; any help from you f-listers? ;]

After the ceremony I got dragged around by people trying to get a photo with me. :] It was kinda surreal.

But we finally saw each other again to say ... *sniff* ... goodbye.

*breaks down again*

I totally loved her dress today; it was a reddish-orange and it didn't clash with her hair AT ALL, which is totally awesome. I felt so conservative standing next to everyone because I wore a floor-length black dress. Well, I was (and still am) kinda in mourning... ;] But anyways, she laughed and said it was a melancholy moment and we held hands for a while and chatted as if nothing was wrong. I mentioned [livejournal.com profile] laurawillows  and the great reception I got when I posted about her present. [livejournal.com profile] scullymouse  also got an indirect mention. ;]

I'm really going to miss how she smiles and looks at people with wise green eyes. I'm going to miss how every blink of hers looks more like an eyelashbat. I'm going to miss her hair, too. It's not epic as it used to be (We watched a slideshow earlier today with photos of us when we were still in her class as students! She had her hair in those pics. It's seriously depressing. :[) but it's very cute and curly.

I'm also going to miss her positive personality; how she never expresses her anger and is even more patient than a saint. I'm going to miss our talks about BSG and life, how she once said that I was the Billy to her Laura. I'm going to miss hearing the little quirks about her life - how her husband Bill (Bill and Lori - this will NEVER get old) is hellbent on biking with her, how her son Liam is moving back to her side of the country, how her niece introduced her to Forever 21, even how she got a bread-making machine and makes a loaf of bread for each day. I'm going to miss her generosity and her thoughtfulness, too. If only there are more Mrs. Fs in this world; world peace would come so much sooner.

Anyways, we took some pictures together and she and my mom met (again).

Mrs. F: I'm so thankful for having your daughter's help. It's like God sent me an angel named Lily Winterwood. She helped me physically by being an aide. But not just that; she helped me emotionally and spiritually. I'm so glad to have known her.

One of her advisees, Anna (using a fake name) , pointed something out to me a while back as well.

Anna: Mrs. F loves you, Lily. You're like a daughter to her.

If there's one thing that's true in all of this, it's that I'll always remember Mrs. F and I'll always love her.

In many instances she was more of a mother than my own biological mom.

So we left and an hour later at a cafe on the other side of town, I broke down and cried my eyes out as if I was watching Daybreak again.

*sobs*

*huggles again* You have to make her hang out with you!! she is WAY to cool to let her slip into a past teacher role. I still am great friends with my english nine teacher. This year, I visited her AT LEAST once a week. When school ended, she gave me a huge hug and told me that I should keep coming to visit her. If you can, go see her as much as you can, or make her get stuff to stay in contact with her via interwebz. It'll be hard at first to go without her, but trust me, it gets easier after time.

I moved to the DC area three years ago, from Washington state. It was a HUGE jump, but I still saw my friends and family at least once a year, and called some of them, so you should totally do that with Mrs. F, cuz she is awesome!!! *huggles* I'll be here if you ever need an ear!!

Her name should be 'Ella Neria' It means Elfin light of God. (I has a baby names book from when my mom was prego in my room, and I flipped randomly through it and found that name... I thought it fit! :D)
